Flavoring your favorite foods

One reason we use so much salt on our foods is because we do not always know how to use herbs and spices to punch up our cooking. Some easy ways to add interest to food without using salt are herbal vinegars, lemon or lime juice, and sodium-free spice blends, such as Mrs. Dash. Hopefully, once you become more familiar with using seasonings in your food instead of salt, you will soon find yourself enjoying the flavors of the food even more than you used to like salt!

A little tip: Always taste the food item first, then season. Seasoning is a highly personalized thing, and not everyone likes the same flavors, but there are certain food/seasoning pairings that work well.
